Jean Washington, MA, LPC

Jean Washington is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the

state of Michigan and obtained her Master of Arts in

Counseling from Oakland University.  Jean also has a

specialization in couple and family counseling from

Oakland University.  Prior to working at Insight Counseling,

Jean spent 5 years at Lapeer Community Mental Health

where she counseled older teens and adults with a variety

of mental health issues. Jean led a substance abuse group

there as well as a DBT group for individuals with borderline

personality disorder.  Prior to her career in counseling,

Jean received her MBA in finance and marketing from

Penn State University and spent over 11 years as a

commercial banker for a large Michigan bank.  

Jean works with individuals with a variety of issues including: anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, weight loss issues, binge eating disorder, unexpected life adjustments, anger management, divorce, bipolar, and borderline personality disorder.  She offers premarital counseling as well as counseling for couples with a desire to rekindle their relationship.  If divorce has already occurred, Jean offers "after divorce counseling" where she counsels parents in their journey as co-parents.  Jean works with multiple therapeutic modalities including: EMDR, CBT, Experiential, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness.  Jean is also a collaborative divorce coach.

Positive thinking can have an enormous effect on a person's life.  Jean offers supportive, non-judgmental counseling to help people make positive transitions in their lives.
