Geraldine Reyes, LMSW

Geraldine Reyes is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the

state of Michigan.  She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in

Psychology, with High Distinction, from The University of

Michigan in 2001.  She also received her Masters in Social

Work from The University of Michigan in 2003, concentrating

on Interpersonal Practice with Children and Youth.  Geraldine

has worked in multiple settings including schools (general

and special education), community mental health agencies,

private agencies, home-based community organizations, and

now in private practice at Insight Counseling Services.  She

serves children as young as 3, adolescents, and young adults,

providing both individual and family therapy.  Geraldine works

with parents, family members, and other professionals to

coordinate care when applicable.  She also runs group therapy sessions.  

She has over 12 years of experience working as a mental health professional.  In that time she has supervised other clinicians, presented on a number of topics, written articles for local publications, and facilitated groups for the following: survivors of sexual assault, children coping with divorce, adolescents with self-injurious behaviors, single mothers, and children diagnosed with ADHD (child and parent groups).  She has also developed and monitored adventure camps.  Geraldine is working on writing children’s books to help kids and their parents cope with difficult life transitions.  

Geraldine is a skilled and compassionate clinician.  She employs a variety of interventions--both creative and effective.  Interventions utilized include cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, trauma focused sensory interventions, art and play therapy, and insight-oriented therapy.

Specializations include trauma and loss, divorce, anxiety disorders, and mood disorders.  Geraldine also works with, but not limited to, ADHD, self-injury, violent behaviors, adoption, ASD, and parenting/family conflicts.

Geraldine’s style is gentle and nurturing.  She has a strong ability to build rapport with her clients, especially young people.
