Mary Carpenter, LMSW

Mary Carpenter, LMSW is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the states of

Michigan and Florida, dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate

life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. She earned both her Bachelor’s

and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Missouri State University, and also

holds an Associate of Arts degree from Ozark Community College.

Since January 2014, Mary has co-owned Insight Counseling Services alongside

her husband, Douglas Carpenter, PsyD. In her role, she oversees the daily

operations of the practice while ensuring a supportive and welcoming

environment for clients. Prior to establishing Insight Counseling Services,

Mary served as a psychotherapist at Perspectives Counseling Centers in

Troy, Michigan from 2006 to 2014.

Mary brings a wealth of experience from her work in both outpatient and psychiatric settings, where she collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support adults and adolescents facing complex mental health challenges. Her clinical background has equipped her with a well-rounded, holistic approach to care.

Her areas of specialization include depression, anxiety, Christian/Biblical counseling, trauma and abuse, adjustment disorders, self-esteem, family of origin issues, grief and loss, stress management, marriage and relationship concerns, as well as divorce prevention and recovery. Mary believes in addressing both the individual and their environment, recognizing the important role that life circumstances play in personal growth and emotional well-being. She is committed to empowering her clients through a strengths-based approach that fosters self-determination, resilience, and meaningful change.

Outside of her professional work, Mary enjoys traveling, spending quality time with her family, and actively participating in her local church community.
